Asphalt Duchess

In 2004, Alexandre & Guillaume founded their own ad agency, Magnetic Promoters, which has contributed to the emergence of major cultural phenomena of our times (Battles, Matthew Dear, I Love UFO, Strings of Consciousness, NLF 3 (Trio), DAUU, Sir Alice, MF Doom, and others). They then launched their own label, (Asphalt Duchess), in 2005. Alexandre & Guillaume soon had an innovative, ground-breaking catalogue that included the Psapp duo from England, Grizzly Bear from New York, the French composer François Eudes Chanfraut, and the Swedish group The Embassy, joined more recently by Mondkopf, Sh** Browne and Society.
In 2008, Alexandre & Guillaume also became art directors for the (Lofty label), where they are developing the Girl Powder compilation project.

The Festival of the Tenth Summer

In 1986, the Factory and Peter Saville organized the Tenth Summer Festival in Manchester, in honor of the year 1976, the birth date of English punk. Adapted from a lecture given by Lili Reynaud Dewar at CAPC musée d’art contemporain in Bordeaux on May 21, 2008, this article discusses the festival and offers a retrospective look at ten years of political, artistic, and social history in northern England, from punk to new wave via Margaret Thatcher and the battle of Orgreave.
Dewar, born in 1976, is an artist and critic who lives and works in Bordeaux. She teaches at the École des beaux-arts there and is represented by the Mary Mary Gallery in Glasgow.
